Sheet music editions
The publication of the last volume of the Neue Bach-Ausgabe (NBA, New Bach Edition) in 2007 marked the end of a unique chapter in the history of musicology. For more than 50 years, the Johann Sebastian Bach Institute in Göttingen and the Bach Archive in Leipzig worked across the German-German border on the historical-critical edition of all of Johann Sebastian Bach's works. The result was 96 volumes of music in eight series as well as the accompanying critical reports and five supplementary volumes.

Neue Bach-Ausgabe – Revidierte Edition (NBArev, New Bach Edition – Revised Edition)
The decades-long duration of the NBA meant that further sources were discovered during the work, experience was gathered and insights were gained that also relate to volumes that have already been published. The Bach Archive Leipzig and the Bärenreiter publishing house have therefore reached an agreement on a permanent scholarly update of the New Bach Edition. The first volume to appear in 2010 was the Mass in B minor, whose problematic score was examined for the first time in 2009 with the help of the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung (Federal Institute for Materials Research) to determine the authentic autograph text of the Mass.
Further information on the revised edition can be found on the website of Bärenreiter-Verlag.
The scholarly-critical complete edition of all surviving works by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach is published by Carus-Verlag in conjunction with the Bach-Repertorium, research project of the Sächsische Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Leipzig (Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig) and with the support of the Packard Humanities Institute.
The eleven volumes, arranged according to genre, contain all surviving works and also report on fragmentary surviving compositions as well as lost compositions that can be traced. Works of dubious authenticity are also included, but not those that are most probably spurious. High-quality new engravings, facsimile illustrations and a detailed preface in German and English with a critical report characterize the opulently appointed volumes.
