No 155 A Fireworks Display of Virtuosity II

J. F. Fasch: Ouvertüre D-Dur, FWV K: D13 • J. D. Heinichen: Sonate B-Dur • J. S. Bach: Brandenburgisches Konzert Nr. 1 F-Dur, BWV 1046
Artists: Kristian Bezuidenhout (harpsichord), Freiburger Barockorchester, direction: Éva Borhi
A fabulous music culture developed at the numerous princely courts of 18th-century Central Germany, borne by outstanding kapellmeisters, composers and instrumental soloists. At their concert this year in Leipzig, the Freiburger Barockorchester invites us on a musical tour of four courts, each of which will be characterised by virtuoso instrumental concertos. Our starting point is the court of Zerbst with kapellmeister Johann Friedrich Fasch; from there, we travel to Berlin with Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, then to Dresden with Johann David Heinichen and lastly to Köthen, where Johann Sebastian Bach led the orchestra.
